Astronomy is the oldest natural science with effects on literature, religion, philosophy, and other areas. Astronomy is also closely connected with astrology, and the two subjects were fused together until the renaissance. After the Copernican model of the universe became accepted among society, astronomy and astrology were gradually separated from one another. Astronomy became known as a real science that involves the study of the planets, whereas astrology was considered by most to be an escape from rationality. However, medieval minded individuals saw both astronomy and astrology as ways of interpreting the universe.
